Categorising Animals

Posted on

We’ve been focusing on categorising animals in Geography recently. We discussed how we might describe what an animal is and discovered that it’s actually very difficult to describe ‘an animal’ without talking a bout a specific type! We learned about vertebrates, invertebrates, mammals, reptiles, fish, birds and amphibians. We then learned to use a key to help us figure out which category different animals fit into. Check out our hard work below 🙂

3rd Class have been working very hard on their Gaeilge this week and have been learning all about different parts of the house. We focused on bedrooms and learned about different ways we could describe our rooms. We practised writing sentences out independently and then also drew some pictures to illustrate our descriptions. 3rd Class did so brilliantly with it and their copybook work is excellent. Maith sibh Rang a Trí!

Procedural Writing

Posted on

Over the last few weeks, we have been learning about Procedural Writing. Procedural Writing is when we write instructions explaining how to do something eg. a recipe, a game, a sport or even directions. We made sure to use imperative verbs (bossy verbs), lists of equipment, materials or ingredients, and we write clear steps in the correct order in the method.

Check out our work below… we wrote a procedure explaining how to make a smoothie. Then we tested our procedure by following our instructions to make smoothies in groups. Luckily our instructions were excellent and we all enjoyed some tasty smoothie! Can you spot the smoothie moustache?

We also worked independently or in pairs to complete some procedure task cards. We worked hard and made super progress!
