We learned all about a contemporary pop artist called Yayoi Kusama. Yayoi Kusama is originally from Japan and she lived for a while in New York! Her parents did not want her to be an artist when she was younger so she had to work very hard to convince them to allow her pursue her dreams. Kusama’s art is always FULL of polka dots and she is even nicknamed The Polka Dot Princess! Check out this video about her here:

We were very inspired by her artwork and decided to recreate some polka dot art ourselves! Here we are working on our polka dot pumpkins and then showing off our finished pieces! We used printing materials to create the polka dots and then an oil pastel on black paper to design our backgrounds. we hope you enjoy having them as a Halloween decoration at home over the next week!
